The Nanjing Museum

The beautiful city Nanjing, historically also known as Nanking, is the capital of Jiangsu dictrict. The city is located in the southwest of the district in the Yangtze River Delta, and has the largest inland port of China.

It is a city with a prominent place in history and culture, and served as the capital during several historical periods. (The name Nanjing means "Capital of the South")

Apart from having been the capital of China for six dynasties and of the Republic of China, Nanjing has also served as a national hub of education, research, transportation and tourism throughout history.

In 1937 the Japanese invaders of China captured the city and massacred 300.000 people.
